At Speedboard, our mission is to be greener. We commit to running our business sustainably. We also work hard to reduce our carbon footprint.
ISO14001:2015
In January 2020, we achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification. It’s the global standard that helps companies create their own Environmental Management System, similar to what we did with Quality and ISO 9001.
ISO 14001:2015 reduces the negative effects of business operations on the environment. It supports continuous improvement and helps comply with EMS regulations and laws.
This certification shows the company’s promise to make sustainability central to everything Speedboard does.
On the road
In February 2020 we took delivery of our new hybrid company van. We have installed an electric changing point for the van, which employees are also able to use.
We have a Car Share scheme. It helps cut traffic and lower the environmental impact of driving.
In the factory
We’ve implemented a heat recovery system in our compressor room, which helps heat the factory. This not only reduces our electricity usage but also lowers our carbon emissions.
We’re also tackling single-use plastic in various ways. At trade shows, we use sustainable cotton bags instead of plastic ones. We also swapped plastic stirrers for wooden ones.
To promote energy efficiency, we’ve introduced a simple but impactful Turn It Off policy. While switching off equipment may seem minor, it can lead to significant savings. Businesses can cut energy use by up to 25%. They can do this by simply turning off lights, computers, and other devices when not in use or at the end of the day.
We’re replacing all the lighting in our factory and offices with energy-efficient LEDs. This change will help us save energy and lower our carbon footprint.
We encourage employees to print less. This helps save paper and energy. We always print on both sides of the paper. We use black and white unless we need colour.
To boost our sustainability efforts, we’ve placed recycling bins in key areas. This makes it easier for employees to sort waste and cut down on landfill waste. We still recycle printer and toner cartridges, batteries, waste toner, and light bulbs.
We will keep adding eco-friendly business practices and track our progress.
