NOTE Stonehouse sponsored this year’s Easter Bunny Trail with pride. It supported the Stonehouse cluster of primary schools. At lively Saturday workshops, local students turned simple wooden cut-outs into a bright set of bunny characters. Using poster paints, glitter, and lots of imagination, the kids made everything from superhero bunnies to spring flowers. After varnishing, someone placed each bunny on a stake. They were then hidden in parks, shop windows, and community flowerbeds. This created a fun treasure hunt for families during the Easter holidays.
Our contribution, called “Bin Bunny,” had a clear message: care for our environment. Dressed in our signature green and grey, Bin Bunny has a tiny wheelie-bin backpack. It has a catchy slogan: “Waste not, want not!” This encourages trail-goers to think before littering. It also celebrates the heroes who keep Stonehouse clean. The social media photos and selfies with the town’s trash crews show that the message got through.
The trail was a big hit. It attracted hundreds of families and many visitors from nearby villages. The organisers said that map sales, snack stalls, and sponsorship made over a thousand pounds. The schools will split this money between classroom resources and outdoor play equipment. Teachers have already earmarked funds for new STEM kits and a vegetable garden.
With the festivities over, we’re keen not to let Bin Bunny hop off into retirement. The PTA plans to auction all thirty-two bunnies this term. NOTE Stonehouse will work to give our litter-picking bunny a permanent home in the reception foyer. Let’s hope Bin Bunny keeps reminding everyone – colleagues, customers, and future trail-goers. Small actions, like putting rubbish in the bin, can really help our community.
