Most of the PCBAs we build today are double-sided and mix surface-mount devices with through-hole components. To guarantee consistent solder quality we use the ERSA Versaflow 345 selective-soldering line, ensuring our products meet the repeatability and reproducibility standards required today. This automated system lets us handle increasingly complex circuit boards and deliver assemblies to IPC-A-610 Class 3 – the benchmark for high-reliability electronics.
The line features automatic board loading and unloading. It also includes precision spray-fluxing and controlled pre-heat zones. Plus, there are two lead-free, adjustable nozzles on ERSA’s dual-pot platform. We can swap one pot for a leaded-solder module whenever necessary. This change gives us great process flexibility while keeping our throughput high.
Each joint forms in a localised nitrogen “bubble.” This creates an inert atmosphere. The result is bright, residue-free fillets. We conduct a thorough check of three important factors during production:
- solder-bath temperature,
- solder level, and
- nozzle height.
We monitor live video and examine temperatures with great attention. This ensures that every solder point is the same.
Continuous improvement sits at the heart of our operation. We’re adding a second selective soldering line soon. This will boost our capacity. It helps us deliver the quality, timeliness, and responsiveness our customers expect.
