About the role

You’ll join the Commercial team at NOTE Basildon, buying the materials and components that keep our production lines running. You’ll raise and manage purchase orders, negotiate with suppliers on price and lead times, and chase shortages so our customers get their products on time.

You’ll work closely with Buying, Account Management, Engineering, Quality and Production colleagues, and support customer quotations and wider commercial projects. You’ll report to the Operations Manager.

What you’ll do

  • Get and negotiate supplier quotations on price, lead times and delivery schedules
  • Raise and manage purchase orders in line with customer and production requirements
  • Use Factory Master, MRP tools and Group purchasing systems for buying and quoting
  • Monitor and act on MRP messages, shortages and changing demand
  • Manage supplier deliveries, including reschedules, pushouts and order confirmations
  • Expedite overdue orders and component shortages, and escalate critical supply risks
  • Check works order kit readiness and material availability for production
  • Support supplier performance, continuous improvement, customer quotations and commercial projects

What you’ll bring

  • Buying or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally two years or more
  • Experience of MRP or ERP systems, and good Excel skills
  • Strong organisation and planning, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Confident communication and high attention to detail
  • Able to work on your own and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Great if you also have

  • Knowledge of electronic components
  • An understanding of manufacturing supply chains and commodity purchasing
  • Factory Master or IFS experience
